Prizes:
The five best works will be honoured with the Alfred Fried Photography Award Medal, the photographers will be invited to attend the award ceremony in Vienna on 20 September 2016, with travel expenses and accommodation paid.
The overall winner (Peace Image of the Year) will receive a cash price of € 10,000.
The Peace Image of the Year will be shown for a year in the Austrian Parliament and will be included in the permanent art collection of the Austrian Parliament.

The 2015 Alfred Fried Photography Award was a great success and was well received by the global photography community. The award ceremony, held at the Austrian Parliament, drew a large international audience. Doris Bures, Speaker of the National Council, introduced the ceremony attended by 240 guests, including Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, who had flown in from New Delhi for the occasion.
The Photographic Society, Edition Lammerhuber, UNESCO, the Austrian Parliament, the Association of Parliament Journalists, and the International Press Institute (IPI), which jointly offer the prize, honoured five works with the Alfred Fried Photography Award Medal: Patricia Willocq for her work Look at me, I am beautiful, Arthur van Beveren, for Regelbau; Dmitrij Leltschuk, for Downshifting in Belarus; David Martín Huamaní Bedoya for Tururo Roots and Carla Kogelman for Ich bin Waldviertel.
Belgian-based photographer Patricia Willocq received the main prize for a picture in her series Look at me, I am beautiful from Doris Bures, President of the National Council, Silvia Lammerhuber, Managing Director of Edition Lammerhuber, and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Kailash Satyarthi.
A great opportunity for any photographer to gain wide attention
Works of the 2015 award have been exhibited at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, at the Geneva Peace Week and the Maison du Jeune Citoyen at Schilitgheim, also the shortlisted images, plus 320 other remarkable works, have been put together in a 50 minute animation, shown 7 times a day on the DIGI-WALL at Vienna's main railway station, which can be seen by 18.000 travellers a day.
