The Children Peace Image of the Year 2018 received 847 images!The call for children under the age of 14 under the umbrella of human rights activist Waries Dirie and Jan Schmolling, managing director of Deutscher Jugendfotopreis, was answered in 137 countries. Most images have been sent from Ukraine, Romania, Czech Republic, Poland, Serbia and Germany. Thank you! In an anonymous voting process the international jury voted for the Children Peace Image of the Year and created a shortlist of 22 entries.
The winner of the Children Peace Image of the Year was immediately informed and invited to travel to Vienna to attend the Alfred Fried Photography Award 2018 ceremony on 20 September 2018.
The winning image will be on display for one year at the Austrian Parliament and will be included in the permanent art collection of the Austrian Parliament. The winner will receive € 1.000.
The winning image will be publicly announced on 21 September 2018.

You can submit your photos online until 27 May 2018. Your parents or your photo group leader may assist you. You decide how many photos to submit. You can submit individual photographs or a series of up to 20 images.
You can take part if you are 14 years or younger. Photo groups may also take part.

What does peace look like? This is a very special question and everybody has very own ideas about it. All the more so today, when we see so much of violence and unrest.
We say: Give your imagination free reign. Make your positive attitude visible in a photo. We want to see how you imagine peace. The best pictures will be exhibited. Across the world.
The best peace photo of the year – The Children Peace Image of the Year – wins 1000 euros. The winner and his or her parents are invited to the award ceremony in Vienna. If a photo group wins, one member of the group and his or her parents are invited to the ceremony. But all photos in the top 20 will be shown.
The honorary chair for the photo competition The Children Peace Image of the Year is Waris Dirie, a committed human rights activist. The competition is part of the Alfred Fried Photography Award, named after one of the first Nobel Peace Prize laureates.
In Germany the photo competition The Children Peace Image of the Year is supported by the Deutscher Jugendfotopreis. The organizer of the international competition is the Alfred Fried Photography Award supported by the "Deutsches Kinder- und Jugendfilmzentrum (KJF)"
By taking part in the photo competition, I/we confirm that my/our child is the author of the submitted photographs and that the individuals shown in the photos have agreed to a public presentation.By taking part the participant and/or its legal representative grant the organizer the right to publicly present the submitted photos in connection with the photo competition. In using the photo(s) the organizer will name the participant and the competition. The right of use is unlimited in terms of time, space and medium. If chosen, the participant will supply the image files in top quality. The use of the photos by the organizer is non-exclusive and non-commercial. This means that the participant may continue to use the photos and that the organizer does not pursue any commercial aims with the submitted photos.
