Peace is something incredibly fragile and fleeting:
A matter of weeks ago, peace had a very private, personal meaning for me; above all else it meant inner peace.
Today, in view of the terrible resurgence of the conflict in the Middle East – a conflict so protracted that it now spans generations – peace now means being able to call my cousin Tami without hearing the sudden wail of sirens erupt in the background, causing her to hastily end our conversation and flee to the nearest air raid shelter.
The state of peace is something which we only know to value when we are on the verge of losing it.
