With OBIETTIVO PACE the Austrian Cultural Forum Rome brings the finalists of the Alfred Fried Photography Award 2019 to the Italian capital. The aim is to promote the search for peace through images. The exhibition, which can be visited from 8 to 30 October, is set up along the fence of the Cultural Forum, because peace is a common good that must be accessible to all.

For UNESCO art is a powerful instrument of peace. Art reshapes the world and creates it anew, opening spaces for dialogue and understanding. Photography can strengthen a global culture of peace by capturing, transmitting and bringing the world together around the dream of peace that we all share.

Our thanks go to the participating photographers: Seunggu Kim, Robin Yong, Dilla Djalil Daniel, Dmitrij Leltschuk, Felipe Fittipaldi, Ilvy Njiokiktjien, Wan Chee Chan, Antonio Aragon Renuncio, Roselena Ramistella, Chris Grodotzki, Gustavo Cherro, Johanna Maria Fritz, Diego Ibarra, Stefan Boness, Jasper Doest, Alain Laboile.

In occasion of the opening of the exhibition „Obiettivo Pace – Alfred Fried Photography Award” on October 8th, pupils of the Swiss School in Rome gathered for a panel discussion. In small groups they had selected and studied their favorite images in detail, so that they could then present why and how the image’s context speaks to them. In the following the pupils went on to debate questions about what peace means in today’s global world, their personal relation to it, and how peace can be promoted by individuals…
