The Shortlist of the Children Peace Image of the Year Award 2017
And so, we are free!
My two sisters and I were faced with the trauma of seeing our father beat our mother. Seeing our mother sad made us unhappy. The situation made us lack many things our friends and cousins had. Sometimes we did not go to school nor eat. We became very afraid of our father. We wanted freedom. Freedom to be happy to do everything other children do. One day our father told our mother that he was leaving us and her. We were glad he left, because now we are very happy; free from the trauma my father made us experience. So, with the camera I got from my grandmother and with my mother’s phone camera, feeling free, I love to take my sisters' snapshots everywhere we go. To me, this is what peace means...FREEDOM FROM UNHAPPINESS
